By adjusting the ratio of soft and hard segments, the hardness of polyetherester elastomer can reach Shore D (32-82), and its elasticity and strength are between rubber and plastic. Compared with other thermoplastic elastomer TPEs, the modulus of polyetherester elastomers under low strain conditions is higher than that of other thermoplastic elastomers of the same hardness. When modulus is an important design condition, the use of polyetherester elastomers can reduce the cross-sectional area of the product and reduce the amount of material used.
Polyetherester elastomers have extremely high tensile strength. Compared to polyurethane (TPU), polyetherester elastomers have much higher compressive and tensile moduli. If the same part is made of polyetherester elastomer and TPU of the same hardness, the former can withstand greater loads. Above room temperature, the flexural modulus of polyetherester elastomer is very high, and it is not as hard as TPU at low temperature, so it is suitable for making cantilever beam or torque parts, especially for making high temperature parts. Polyetherester elastomer has good low temperature flexibility, low temperature notched impact strength is better than other TPE, wear resistance is comparable to TPU. Under low strain conditions, polyetherester elastomers have excellent fatigue resistance and low hysteresis loss. This property, combined with high elasticity, makes the material ideal for a wide range of cyclic loading conditions, allowing the use of gears, rubber rollers, elastic couplings and belts.
